Vibrant Vines

I have said this before - inspiration can come from the most unexpected places. To reiterate that sentiment, the artwork I'm sharing here is inspired by bottle gourd vines in my garden! Imagine.... of all the things on the face of this Earth, how can a vegetable growth be an inspiration?!? :D But the vines look so lush, with their rounded leaves and delicate flowers, that I couldn't help capturing them in a sketch.

Line drawing on a collaged background, in the style of artist Robert Kushner, one of my favourites on Pinterest.

Remember the cut-up page I mentioned in my last post? This sketch was made on the reverse side of that cut-up page. The top picture shows how the sketch looks against a plain background while the bottom picture shows how the sketch actually looks as a page in my journal.

Tin Creatures

Ever struggled with the tin foils atop sealed cans of malt drinks and baby food? Well, get yourself a good cutter and take them out neat. Then see what you can do with those round tin scraps...

Turn 'em into a lil' bird ready to fly away.

Or float a fishy fish in the water.

And since it is monsoons, a snail with a shell on its back wouldn't be out of place either!

Hope you like my tin creatures and try some out yourself.

Tin-Tin!

Apart from reminding you of a popular comic book character, that title refers to the tin sheets that cover a whole lot of packaged tinned food containers. You know, the types that you cut out with a pair of scissors before you actually get to empty the contents of the tin can.

So what can you do with a sheet of tin that you ripped off some container? (considering this is a creative blog!)…. Pretty much, if you ask me. Just see what I did – backed it up with some cardboard and paper, and had a homemade coaster for the table.

Dressed it up with some scribbles and it can pass off as a wall piece! Yippee...

I am sure the story hasn’t ended yet… I can feel another makeover for the tin is on its way already. Look out for more…

And in the meanwhile, have fun recycling. It really is one of my favourite-est pastimes (though it is a different matter that I have no time with a full-day job, two kids, and a new house making constant demands on my sanity!)….
